Wash Guide

Wash & Care Guide

Your Afro Art City garments are crafted from premium Comfort Colors 1717 heavyweight cotton with high-quality printing built to last. To preserve the fabric’s softness and the vibrancy of your designs, proper care is essential.

Following these steps will keep your pieces looking and feeling their best, wash after wash.

Machine Washing To protect the print and maintain the quality of the cotton:

  • Turn garment inside-out: Protects the design from abrasion.
  • Wash cold (30 °C / 86 °F): Hot water can cause shrinking and fading.
  • Gentle cycle: Reduces stress on fibers and prevents cracking or peeling.
  • Use mild detergent: Avoid bleach, harsh stain removers, or fabric softeners.
  • Wash with similar colors: Keep away from heavy items like jeans or towels.
  • Mesh laundry bag (recommended): Provides extra protection against tumbling.

Hand Washing (the gentlest method) Recommended for maximum longevity:

  • Fill a basin with cold water.
  • Add a small amount of mild detergent.
  • Turn garment inside-out.
  • Gently agitate without scrubbing or wringing.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Press out excess water (use a towel — do not wring).

Drying

  • Air dry (preferred): Lay flat or hang in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade prints.
  • Tumble dry: Only on low heat, inside-out, and remove promptly when dry.
  • Avoid high heat, which damages cotton fibers and prints.

Ironing / Steaming

  • Iron inside-out on low heat.
  • Place a thin cloth between the iron and the fabric.
  • Never iron directly on the print.
  • Light steaming inside-out is safe, but avoid prolonged exposure on the design.

By following these guidelines, your Afro Art City t-shirts will keep their comfort, color, and cultural pride for a long time.
